The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne

5.0

I’m always a bit apprehensive when picking up sequels as they don’t always live up to the first book. This one was even better than the first, in my opinion. John Gwynne created such a detailed world in the first book, but this one built upon that whilst also taking the story up a serious notch.

The action started from the very first page, continuing from where the first book finished, and didn’t stop until the last page. There were no slow parts, I was completely hooked. I’m SO attached to these characters and I wasn’t sure how I felt about two new POVs being added, but I came to enjoy their chapters just as much and it was interesting to see the world from the ‘baddies’ POV, as we rarely do.

This was one of the few books that I could have started reading again as soon as I finished as there is so much to take in. After that ending, I need the next book IMMEDIATELY. If you’re a high fantasy reader, I’d say this is a must read and I can see John Gwynne becoming a favourite author of mine.
