The Kraken's Sacrifice by Katee Robert

“I would cut my own heart out of my chest before I hurt her.”

Thane and Catalina are a very interesting pairing. I immediately fell in love with Catalina she's spunky to hide the fact that she feels like a disappointment to everyone. Thane is broody and not really interested in the whole auction idea... simply because he's still mourning the loss of his partner. The two of them seem to have no interest in each other but yet they have some incredible tension. I think the storyline on this one was a bit deeper because we have two characters healing from traumas that have fundamentally altered them as people. It was sweet watching them begin to trust and fall for one another. I also think it was interesting to see all the ways that a person can justify harm along with the ways we can unintentionally harm those we care for. I also thought this one was interesting because we have two characters who are actually afraid to be loved. I enjoyed this one, but I have to admit it was a bit more serious at times than I was anticipating haha.
