The Bone Ship's Wake by RJ Barker
5.0
This is such a great example of how to conclude a trilogy, it has left me with all the feels and I already miss being on this fantastical nautical adventure with these characters
The lead up the final phase was executed so well, it managed to hold a steady pace with events spread throughout, some being slightly traumatic so be prepared, all whilst holding onto the charm of the series. The ending was satisfying and it felt complete, I'd say RJ is cruel in some of the decisions made but ultimately I think the sea is the one that's less forgiving
There's some really heart-warming and emotional moments that happen amongst these great characters, very much so including the Gullaime. They were unexpected but I am glad they were present as it really balanced the story out amongst the action and more tense scenes giving it that finale feeling
I really recommend this series if you are looking for something slightly different than the usual classic fantasy adventure, it's definitely unique in terms of its storytelling but I think for the better. I'd advise anyone not to be too put off by the first half of the first book as this series just gets better and better from there on out
