This was not what I thought it was going to be. It was written in 2012, and that showed through the writing. The thing about that is that I did not know anyone who spoke like that outside of movies made during that time. So it just seemed like a script for a fast n furious or step-up movie. There was no real plot. The characters were severely underdeveloped. I was not a fan of the authors writing voice, and her sentence structure was unique to put it nicely. I won't be reading anymore from this author. I'm not mad that I read this. Some of the spice was good, and even though there were red flags and I wasn't a fan of this relationship, the author made a point to put all that in the authors note. I did appreciate that. However, the characters were so bland, and their love was not something that was built. It just magically was without any explanation to how they got there, minus him buying her gifts. It all seemed shallow, and the spice did not make up the difference for that. Although I did get some material to use in my contribution to the Thirsty Thursday thread on r/romancebooks.
