I am well outside the target age range for this book, but I enjoyed it nonetheless! The many twists and turns kept me guessing - I found myself thinking about the book quite a bit while I wasn’t reading it. I mostly enjoyed the characters and story, especially Pip and Ravi’s dynamic. There are so many characters and threads to keep track of, and the author does a great job keeping it from getting too hard to follow.

I was worried the story would be predictable, but it went in a different direction than I expected. The ending felt a little out of left field to me, almost like the author was trying to subvert my expectations. Pip and Ravi had jokingly floated the idea of there being two killers, and I was surprised that there actually were (and who they were). It makes narrative sense, but felt a bit convoluted, even for a YA novel. Also, I think the book would have been better served if it was ~100 pages shorter. It felt like the book lost some steam toward the end and the cat and mouse of it all started to feel repetitive.

Despite those nitpicks, this was really fun. I will be adding the sequels to my read list. I love a good whodunnit! 3.5/5 ☆
