The Listener by Robert R. McCammon
4.0
The Great Depression brought on desperation. Swindlers and thieves were looking for ways to not only survive but to thrive.
Listeners are people who can connect and talk to each other with their mind. It is rare and most who have the ability think they are crazy.
This story is one of a crossing of lives, a poor skinny Black man working at the bus depot trying to make enough so he and his mom can survive, and a young white girl whose dad is wealthy. Then throw in a few swindlers trying to get ahead the easy way
