Kismet by Ashley James
5.0
I've been trying to write this review for days, and couldn't make up my mind. Either I ended up philosophizing about life, or I ended up writing more spoilers than anything else. And neither of those things suited me. But in the end, I just wrote what made me feel. And yes, maybe it's not what I wanted to write, but it's the most honest thing that came out.
Every time I read the title of this book, the word Karma comes to mind. And maybe it's a very hard thought to believe that everything that happened to them was a direct consequence (and punishment) of their actions, but sometimes, it's just that. Consequences.
Because I do believe that they were destined. Their souls recognized each other from the beginning, simply through a glance. A touch, a word. But it wasn't their time, it wasn't their moment.
And one gets to think, if his actions had been different? If Stone had resisted the temptation and resolved his life first? If Cash, before acting on his feelings, had set the limits that Stone couldn't seem to handle? Would they have avoided all the suffering, all the pain? Unfortunately, life is full of What if...? And perhaps the result would have been the same. Perhaps they needed to grow up, each on their own, in order to be fully with each other later.
Incredibly, [b:Kismet|63113093|Kismet|Ashley James|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1666891593l/63113093._SY75_.jpg|97022556] was not as painful for me as [b:Illicit Desires|60885668|Illicit Desires (The Deepest Desires #3)|Ashley James|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1661966859l/60885668._SX50_.jpg|96028955] and [b:Forsaken Desires|60483715|Forsaken Desires (The Deepest Desires #2)|Ashley James|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1654853944l/60483715._SX50_.jpg|95319439], from the same author. Now, make no mistake. It WAS PAINFUL, but I think I was more prepared or better forewarned. Or maybe it was that I got a little mad at Stone and focused on consoling (yes, in my mind I was consoling him) Cash.
And I have to say, I love the style of [a:Ashley James|17766536|Ashley James|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]. And I love the stories that she creates. Kismet is a beautifully written story, full of visual and emotional landscapes that make you feel like you're inside of it. And I think that's the best compliment one can give a book. The fact that one not only reads it, but also lives it.
I was given an advanced copy and wrote voluntarily a review.
