Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter
3.0
CW: child sexual abuse
This is another summer book club pick, and it was an out-of-my-comfort-zone read as I'm not a reader of thrillers. I can't say how it compares to others of its genre, but I did find it entertaining enough. Part of the reason I avoid thrillers is their reliance on sex crimes against women (even when written by women grrrrr) for their plots. I was relaxed enough by the time it mentions one of the main characters was sexually abused by her father, that I was vastly annoyed by this (unnecessary to both plot and character) point. It is referred to only, and there are no salacious descriptions. The book is also a bit too long. I skimmed a lot of info dumps.
