River of Gods by Ian McDonald

5.0

I love this book. I was incredibly confused when I started reading it, due to the changes in view point every chapter and all of the Hindi words and phrases. I was flipping back to the glossary once or twice per page at first. Not to mention some of the odd technology. In any case, once I got into the flow and I could tell where things were headed I couldn't put it down. I want to go as far as to say this book is brilliant, but I'm probably not the best judge since I am biased toward Sci-Fi and robots with AI. [a:Ian McDonald|25376|Ian McDonald|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1214548966p2/25376.jpg] really helps you to feel like you are in India 2047, political tension and all.

I love the fact that [a:Ian McDonald|25376|Ian McDonald|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1214548966p2/25376.jpg] included a list of music that should accompany the book to help set the mood. Now every time I hear Motherfucker = Redeemer by God Speed You! Black Emperor I feel like I am right there for the final climactic scene.

Even just writing this makes me want to read it again.
