The Governess of Penwythe Hall by Sarah E. Ladd

5.0

Starting the year out with a historical romance. What sold me on this was someone else’s review saying “it’s pride and prejudice, meets Jane eyre, meets north and south”. Whomever they were, nailed it.

I loved every page of this. So much death. So many twists. So much build. The sadness, the happiness.
Pirates, financial ruin, manners, lust, family. It has a little bit of everything. Did I mention, pirates? (For all intents and purposes)

The author took her time giving us background on the characters. It’s like you can see them standing in front of you.

Such a good read.
