It definitely had similar vibes to The Essex Serpent, both in tone and themes, but it also felt very unique. I loved the writing and the intrigue the narrator brought.
The only thing I'd say (which is incredibly wishy-washy) is that it didn't feel as solid as Essex Serpent and I think it may have lost in the end but only a little and I actually didn't mind what happened so I have no idea what that's about!
But honestly, I was hooked the whole time. I'll probably go back and forth as to which of her works I've read thus far is my fave, lol.
