As someone who is a big SJM fan, this one kind of disappointed me? I found the world really interesting to learn about (a mix of humans and technology with a bunch of fantastical creatures). The politics lost me for a bit, but I managed to get back on track about halfway through. I just felt like there was a lot in there that was unnecessary. It just dragged on and on and it took me forever to get through and felt like a chore. Bryce annoyed me a lot of the time, Hunt annoyed me a lot of the time, and the people I liked were almost never there. The dialogue was a bit bleh and awkward to read. I thought the last 200 pages were really solid, and they reminded me of what I love about SJM's writing. The action was so cool and the tension and intrigue and drama were great. I'm definitely going to keep going with the series, but I was a bit disappointed with this one considering with her other books, I couldn't stop reading.
