Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger

4.0

My first read from this author. I Love a closed circle mystery, and that aspect of this novel was fairly well done. It had a lot of threads, and I knew some were going to tie together. In many ways, I anticipated how they were connected and what would happen.

My fourth star comes from the unique approach to this plot line. The author presents an age old conundrum. Our origins are unique and unpredictable. Nature or Nurture? I like that she explored this and left it for us to ponder and fear.

There were, however, some disparate distractions with other characters and potential plot points that I thought were somewhat unnecessary. And they were abandoned in a weird way, with no real overall closure or context except to almost say “we were meant to take you on a different path, but ultimately we were useless to the climax and resolution of this novel.”
