Deeply addictive read, feels like the story is told just right and has the exact amount of pages; it felt very satisfying to close the book and breathe out after finishing it.
The beginning of the book felt slightly bumpy to me as the way to the story was paved, but once the confusion of the beginning was cleared, the story carries on smooth as silk. All the characters are well built, and you can’t help but feel a special, unconditional love towards Sunja. All that she went through, how it all shaped the future for generations to come, how the social stigma of immigration is showed constantly throughout the lives of the Korean family, the unfairness of casual racism and how it all mounts up towards a thorough contemporary commentary.
I cant recommend it enough!
