Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

5.0

Once upon a time, an angel lay dying in the mist. And a devil knelt over him and smiled.

Ohhh this book was everything I had hoped it would be and more. After reading Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares earlier this year, I knew I had to get my hands on more of Laini Taylor's work. The way she spins words to create magic is something to be applauded. I'm in awe of her twisted tales and creativity.

I was sucked into Daughter of Smoke & Bone within the first three pages. It's gripping and makes you sit there pondering what could possibly happen next. There's suspense from the very beginning, which I love. There's a lot of foreshadowing as well, but it's done in a way that leaves tons to the imagination and then you feel prickles of anticipation when you reach the moments you had either come to anticipate or hope for.

I really liked the dual timeline and how it provided backstory without being drawn out.

I've already ordered the next book to begin reading soon and I can't wait!
