Blood Laws by Lexi C. Foss
4.0
OK, Ms. Foss... you have my attention! But, that was a dirty trick!
We are introduced to Astasyia (Stas), a beautiful young graduate student with a strange supernatural past who has memories of her mother and father perishing in a fire when she was young. As an adult, Astasyia has a strange gift of persuasion; she can make people do as she commands through her voice. As it turns out, she's a fledgling (soon to be immortal). The murder of her best friend, Owen, puts her face to face with billionaire, Isaac Wakefield. A flirty, English bachelor with supernatural secrets of his own. As they fight their attraction to each other, they soon uncover a plot that will put both of their lives and the people they love in danger.
Isaac and Stas have chemistry from the minute they appear on page together. I LOVE Isaac! Exuded a sexiness and humor that kept me turning the page. Stas is a strong heroine. And I'm glad she wasn't like most of the heroines I read about who continue to deny the attraction they feel for the Hero, frustrating the hell out of me!
One thing I didn't really understand is why Ms. Foss thought to put another couple at the forefront of Book Two. I must say that I found that a bit of a turn off. Especially, since I didn't really get a chance to develop an affinity for Tom. So, as you could imagine, I really don't care to read his story. But, if I want to get back to the fate of Isaac and Stas, I'm going to have to, aren't I?
Ugh... not fair but, well played.
On to book Two, I go!
Happy reading!
