Troilus and Cressida by William Shakespeare
2.0
If you have read this and can think of anything to make me like it, I would welcome hearing about it.
I love Ancient Greek stories, plays, epic poetry. I love the Iliad very much. Troilus and Cressida sort of follows the Iliad. It all sounded so promising. But all the joy is sucked out and this long play was (IMO) an overly drawn out bore. The big love story between Troilus and Cressida was a damp dreary November in my soul. Loooong diatribes by both Greek and Trojan’s that were not the stuff of the incredible soliloquies we know Shakespeare could write. He had amazing characters to work with, but made them all a bit dull. I am disappointed in this one. But glad it is over. All I can say is ‘onward’
