The Marriage Auction: Book Four by Audrey Carlan

3.0

It honestly took me forever to finish this first round and I think it was because it started off so strong and interesting and I was invested, however book three and four just felt like too much too fast for me. I felt like in this one we had some really insane and outrageous situations that felt like they came out of absolutely nowhere and were just added for shock value. I also think that at times the pacing was just wrong... you would go from one character with an intense very painful situation happening... and then immediately switch to some lighthearted dynamic that just felt off. This one also did this weird thing and would play out one story, and the next one would go back a week or so.
I just really hoped it would finish off strong and while this one was better than book three, it just didn't grab me the way the first two books did. I think the characters are all great and the writing is nice... I just wish that we could have had the serious things thrown together and the lighthearted together so that it didn't feel like it was trying to cheapen a moment. I also felt like everything was just so rushed in these relationships considering all the events are supposedly only happening like 5 months after the auction for the most part. I don't know... maybe Season 2 will win me over.
