A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

5.0

I feel as though I can finally release all of the breath I was holding while reading these books. What an incredible ending to this trilogy.

After the massive cliffhanger that the second book gave us, I basically opened the first few pages expecting Rhy to die at any second. With Kell's magic removed, there was no way to tether himself to Rhy. It was a whirlwind as Lila tried to race the clock and practice with her new magic in order to save Kell so that he could save Rhy.

Osaron "possessing" Holland was spooky as hell. When he finds his way into Red London and finds a way to survive without a host, I started shaking in my boots. It felt a bit like a zombie story as the townspeople began to get "sick" and either die or be turned into pawns for the Shadow King. My heart broke as we began to lose characters along the way.

I'd really like to have a prequel with the King and Queen, because there's definitely a story when it comes to The Steel Prince and his wife (*EDIT: there are graphic novels about The Steel Prince and I'm super excited to read them now).

I felt as though I was chugging energy drinks throughout the entire book because of the fast pace, constant action, and intense moments. I didn't want Luc to die, I had this inkling that Cora was evil, I cried when the Queen was killed, and held my breath every time Rhy felt Kell's pain or vice versa. It was an epic finale.

I was really happy with the way it wrapped up. Though I still have questions, I think that the ending was really natural. Holland was able to bind the Antari together and lose his power, Kell and Lila were able to travel, Rhy became a strong King, and Luc was pardoned and reunited with Rhy. It was a great finish, and I can't wait for more????
