this book reminds me a lot of maeve fly in that it attempts to do a lot with its edgy and disturbed female main character but ends being really fucking boring. i genuinely couldn’t believe how short this book was after i finished it because i felt like i had been reading it for ages. i found the plot uninteresting and all over the place, thematically loose, and the writing to be just okay. i thought irina would be interesting and the book would really go places dark but it remained very vanilla and uninspired in my opinion which is ironic considering what the main character is doing. i did love this authors sophomore novel so i would be willing to try another one but this was disappointing.
