TLDR: arctic, atmospheric and homoerotic, aka my perfect book
----
Just finished this!!!! I have huge nostalgia for this book because I read it when I was 12 and it was the first book I ever read that had an explicitly gay character in it which made me go nuts. so I may be slightly biased.
It's just really great spooky atmospheric horror (if you like that sort of thing) in a setting that's widelyyyyy underexplored if you ask me. we need more arctic ghosts. the tension building is great and this has cemented in my mind that I will NEVER visit the arctic. also it's mega short (255 pages with huge writing) so I managed to demolish it very quickly.
just a very quick, light and well-written ghost story that had me Incredibly Tense by the end. my heart was thudding. I recommend it highly.
also one of the main characters is a very cute dog
