SO PURE, SO GOOD, SO SOB! I sat down in my branch's graphic novel section, determined to find a graphic novel or manga written by a Black woman (which, why is this so hard??). This was the only one I could find, so I settled in to read it. Generally, graphic novels don't take me long at all to read, but my legs were fully asleep by the time I got through this one. I had to take my time over each panel. It was absolutely gorgeous, from the artwork, to the twist at the end, to the family dynamics!! Mari and Hazel are my OTP. Such a sweet, age positive, body positive, alternative family structure positive, JUST POSITIVE graphic novel.
