The Deal by Elle Kennedy
5.0
5 stars, easily one of my favorite books I have ever read.
I really love romance books, but usually I read books that aren't college related, usually the people are in there late twenties and working a steady job. This was one amazing book, and I loved the college scene! Maybe it's because I start college in a few months, or I just like the style.
Briar is a private college, and from what I got from it, it's the best of the best and you're lucky to say you go there. So Hannah Wells is the main character followed along by Garrett Graham.
Hannah is actually from Indiana, having fled her home state because of a terrible thing that happened while she lived there. I really feel for Hannah, because nobody should ever have to expirence something she did. The hardest part Hannah deals with isn't even the fact that she it's the fact that her parents are stuck there dealing with all the crap that happened to her. Of course her parents do not fault her for anything, but it is still painful to read about and understand. Anyways, Hannah and Garrett share a class together and the whole class practically failed that midterm. The teacher is even letting people retake it the scores were so poorly. Hannah aced it though. Garrett? Not so much. Garrett is the star hockey player at Briar. I was pretty proud that this college treats all their students the same, and requires athletes to really do their work and keep their grades up with no special treatment. Garrett bombed the test, and if he doesn't get his grades up, he will be benched on the team. He notices Hannah's A, and tries to convince her to tutor him. After an eternity she finally gives in. They come to an agreement, and Garrett agrees to pretend date her so the guy she has been crushing after, Justin, will notice her. But what happens when the guy you pretend date becomes more than just a fake boyfriend?
I loved this story line so much. The characters couldn't have been more perfect for each other. I loved that Garrett and Hannah's relationship started off as strangers, then best friends, and then into more. It really made me feel the connection they had. I absoluteness hated Garrett's father. Which I imagine everyone did. This was a great read of two people who really made each other better people. And even when the odds were against them, the two unlikely people, figured something out.
