The House Between Tides by Sarah Maine
4.0
Hetty heads to Muirlan in the Outer Hebrides her ancestral home to find a ruined house with a body buried under the floor boards putting a bit of a kink in her plans. She dives into the house and area history to try and figure out what happened. In 1910 Theo Blake brings his new bride Beatrice to Muirlan, hoping he'll be inspired to paint again, and while things start out well enough he quickly starts to ignore his wife and live in the past(daydreaming of his lost love). Hetty discovers that Beatrice eventually disappeared and was never seen again, but there are other secrets to be uncovered as well.
I really enjoyed the setting for this, the island is a character in the story, all the MC's are interesting, though Hetty lets herself be pushed around to much for most of the story so it's satisfying when she eventually pushes back.
