The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

I DEVOURED THIS! A friend has been recommending this for quite some time, but the length of the book was always intimidating to say the least. I'm really blown away by this story though.

Brandon is an exceptional writer. Despite the loads of information given throughout the story, the ease of which I learned about the world is remarkable. I was worried I wasn't going to track all of the characters or plot well, but the story is laid out in such a beautiful way this ended up not being an issue at all. The characters are all interesting people to read about and they're expeceptionally easy to root for. I was happily surprised at the depth the characters had as well, and the length they go to examine themselves and their own motivations.

This book does read like a prequel in that it is not plot heavy. This first book very much just establishes the world, characters, and sets the stage for a much wider problem. But Sanderson perfectly makes you wanting more, so I will be diving into the second book ASAP!
