I was so hopeful for this book, I am not much of a fantasy reader at all but once I read the synopsis I thought it was a book I could really get into- ugh.
I was disappointed, it was so SLOW! I get that slow burn is a thing but this was ridiculous, I felt like I had made a huge dent in the book, looked down to the corner or my kindle and I was still on 14%.
I think one of the things that bothered me was the writing style, I loved the humour and the characters were loveable and easy to connect with however, if you were to take out all of adjectives then there would be little to no dialogue.
While the book ended on a cliffhanger and a small part of me wants to know what happens, it is a very small part and I don’t know if I’m interested enough to pick up the next book in the series.
All of the elements to make this a great book were there but unfortunately it just fell short. The story didn’t flow as smoothly as it could’ve and it was almost boring. From the synopsis I was also expecting a romance albeit a slow burn one but there was little to no romance.
