"This movie is not for everyone. This movie is for some of us."
Same can be said for this book.
If the title hadn't grabbed me, the cover would have. And the plot synopsis. All of it.
As I've said before, I'm a huge fan of the cursed media sub-genre (The Ring, Curse of the Reaper, The Handyman Method, etc.), and Paul Tremblay's Horror Movie is next-level.
In 1993, a gritty and disturbing horror movie was made, but only three scenes were ever released to the public.
Now, the actor who portrayed Thin Kid is the only cast survivor. The story is told from then and now, with the Horror Movie screenplay itself cut in between chapters.
This is truly cinematic and off-putting reading, and at times heartbreaking.
Horror Movie creates it's own lore, and there are great in-references. It's one that makes you want to go straight to YouTube to watch those released scenes, now knowing the stories behind them.
It's creepy af and I loved it. For horror fans - highly recommended!
