A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
2.0
I feel very confused about what the intended demographic for this series is. I think the book states it’s for 16 years and up, but then the plot is something that I can only see my 13 years old self enjoying.
I knoooooow you bitches are not reading this for the plot!!!!
I feel like I know nothing of the main character. I know what she’s been through and I know of her current love story. But I don’t know HER. Honestly she seemed quite dumb for most of the story, and the main force that seemed to drive her was the love she suddenly developed for this faerie guy. She even said herself in one of the last moments how the love that tied her to him was the only thing she had (or smt like that). Like… that’s just sad! Please give female main characters a purpose that goes beyond their love interest and give them a clearly defined personality.
The story felt confusing for most of the book, the only parts that were spelled IN DETAILS were the romantic encounters, and then all of a sudden EVERYTHING is explained. All at once. I really did not enjoy that.
At the same time something clearly peaked my interest because I’m planning on going on with the serie. I think it’s mostly to see whether I’m right in my predictions:
- she gets into a love triangle with the two guys
- she falls for the one who has literally forced her into spending time with him one week every month, and has been nothing but emotionally and sometimes physically abusive
- she does not develop a personality
I’ll keep you updated
ALSO WHY IS THIS GIRL ALWAYS RAISING A HAND TO HER THROAT WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEANNNN?!?! AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHERE ARE THE GAYS YOU CAN’T EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS NOT ONE FRUITY FAERIE IN THIS WHOLE UNIVERSE
