I really loved the heart of this book. Isabel is a character who makes the reader want to do better, be better. She is indomitable! And Sirius was lovely as well, once he’s told on multiple occasions to get his head out of the ground. I clicked so much more with this book than the first one. I was able to keep interest and follow the politics better. I also felt that the romance flourished so much more in this novel and was a better focus of the narrative. Now I’m so excited for Gabby’s book. Two books with an antagonist to lovers angle is just want my trope loving heart needs!
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: War and Injury/Injury detail
Survivor’s guilt, shitty parent/family member (for both MCs)
