Lark Ascending by Silas House
Did not finish book. Stopped at 25%.
I picked this one up because I like dystopian and I had heard really good things about Silas House as an author. He's highly acclaimed and was just named Kentucky's poet laureate. I've read other reviews who have said that they don't like this book as much as some of his earlier works so I may try Southernmost but once I read about events called The Slaughters, that pretty much turned me off. I get the impression that the book is less about the dystopia and more about the character Lark but the dystopian portion feels cliche to me and I can't quite get past it. It's not clicking for me so I'm going to set it aside.
