the conversation. the conversation is amazingly constructed, encompassing the characters’ personalities so naturally. I don’t know how Salinger got his wit, but it sure is one of a kind and entertaining as hell. i felt called out a bit by Zooey’s speech to Franny because I, too, build hatred for what people do that’s none of my business, I say I hate ego and I know I’m also like 95% ego and to be honest I don’t really know how I can change that. people like Eckhart say you can do it through deep meditation, but I feel like whenever I think a little bit of my ego dissipated, it’s just my ego telling itself that it’s doing a good job… and so the self-hatred continues. I guess I’ll have to start doing it for the Fat Lady.
