Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
5.0
Jojo has come up a few times when we have been picking books for book club, but we never have actually settled to read one with the group. I decided to pick one up to start my 2015 year off. I was pleasantly surprised but how amazing the book really was.
LIKES
The story was unique, painful, funny and touching. So many feels. I couldn't sleep last night so I ended up reading and finishing it between 2am and 5am. I think there was something really special about reading in the silent time in the morning.
I loved Lou. She was so unique. I think I would have been drawn to her when she was waitressing. She wanted to be herself, but still was working on figuring herself out. I loved the way she dressed and I so badly wanted to be able to go shopping with her.
Will, wow, Will. I really don't want to spoil to much, but the book did an amazing job giving us insight into Will's mind without being from his POV. You can understand how hard it would have to be in his shoes, but you were also wanting to push him and help him as much as possible.
The feels in this book. It really makes you stop and think. The research was done really well and it makes the story so real.
GRIPES
The only thing I really struggled with was getting into the writing and phrasing since Jojo is a British novelist. Once I got past the differences it was an easy read.
