A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole
Did not finish book. Stopped at 43%.
When Poppy is 5 a new family moves in next door from Norway. They have a little boy the same age as Poppy named Rune. They become instant best friends forever and infinity. When Poppy is 8 her Mamaw passes away, but just before she does she gifts Poppy a jar of 1000 paper hearts to write out each kiss that makes her heart feel like it’s going to burst from the love of her life. This way she can tell her granddaughter about each of those 1000 kisses like her Mamaw did for Poppy. Later Poppy and Rune are separated and when they come back together things have changed.
This is a YA novel most certainly. It’s a romance and many have raved about how it made them cry. It’s about true love and soulmates and it was written too much for a young audience for me to be find myself enjoying it now. It reminded me a bit of The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks. But reading it at 30 it didn’t capture me the way it was meant to. I read properly maybe 60% or a bit over and then flipped through the rest of it
