BioShock: Rapture by John Shirley
3.0
Andrew Ryan has a vision of creating a utopia, free of government. He then creates Rapture, a city in the ocean that has a free market and no censorship. Along the way, Andrew makes loyal followers one being Bill McDonagh that share in his vision.
This is a prologue to BioShock. For someone who never played BioShock and knows, I would say less than the basic information about this world, I didn't think it was that great. The plot was fascinating, but the information dumping brought the book down, I understand it was necessary but at times I just wanted the story to get on with it. That said, I am very much interested in what I've been missing out on in the BioShock fandom, WTH goes on in this game?! As someone who doesn't play too many games, this book has sparked an interest in me at least to watch a walkthrough. I would recommend to anyone who likes horror gore and politics, also for a mature audience.
