Für immer vielleicht by Cecelia Ahern
4.0
If I am honest, it was pretty hard for me to rate this book.
The adaptation is one of my favourite movies of all time and I was very excited when I realized (quite a while after watching it for the first time) that it was actually based on a book.
What I didn't know before I picked this book up is that it is entirely told in letters, e-mails, chats and things like that. When I then opened it up for the first time I thought about that as a very interesting concept that made me wanna read it even more. But a few chapters in I realized that the format kind of kept me from fully connecting with the characters.
When I was a third or maybe halfway through my opinion changed again. I started to fall in love with the characters and their stories and I started to really like the format everything was told through.
After finishing this book I can say that I loved it. I loved to see Rosie and Alex and all the other characters around them grow and I think Cecelia Ahern found a great way to portray their lives from ages 5 to 50 without making me feel like I was just being rushed through it. Instead this book had exactly the right pace for my tastes.
I do still have some smaller issues with the writing/format though because at some points it felt a little unauthentic. For example people would interrupt each other in chats which doesn't really seem to make a lot of sense considering that you usually can't see the other's message before they're done typing it. But that is not a major thing.
All in all I would rate "Where Rainbows End" as 3.5 stars but since that is not possible on goodreads I decided to give it a 4 star rating because in the end I did enjoy it a lot.
I can't wait to re-watch the movie now :)
