The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer
3.0
3.5 !
Recognizing I needed some sweetness at the start of this November all things considered at our present moment. The Wishing Game is a drama about a woman down on her situation attempting to adopt a young boy she's come to care for very much. It's a book about good people with good hearts who through their personalities and sheer sense of will make their dreams come true.
When it works, it's wish fulfillment that's cozy and sweet.
The book is a little scattered, there's a game element to this that is essentially non-existent. It takes up the majority of the plot but it's really a backseat to all the internal stuff our MC is going through. Things just sort of happen as opposed of any engaging action leading the plot.
It's cozy and fine.
