Make Me Wilder by Serena Bell
4.0
„Make me Wilder“ starts off with a BOMB: our heroine, Lucy, has made a MESS of things at work and needs to get out of New York, stat. Her mom finds her a quick consulting job in small town Rush Creek, and it’s the perfect opportunity to take a break.
On her first night in Rush Creek, Lucy runs into Gabe in the most adorable of meet-cutes: saving ducklings! Needless to say, sparks fly… until Gabe realizes that Lucy has been hired by his mom behind his back to „help“ his family’s business, Wilder Adventures, broaden its appeal - an idea he adamantly opposes.
Gabe and Lucy immediately write each other off; but as they are forced to spend weeks together so Lucy can learn all about Wilder Adventures, keeping their distance (and their hearts) becomes more and more difficult.
This was one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while! It’s a classic „opposites attract“ situation: Lucy is a ‘city girl’, who can’t stand small towns. Gabe was born for the great outdoors and is content to live in his little town where he knows everyone. They don’t make sense on paper, except their mutual attraction keeps sending them colliding.
I really loved the character development of both Lucy and Gabe. They are both scared and closed-off (with good reason), but together they learn they can be so much more. I also loved the pacing of the story, and the laugh-out-loud moments. It was really just perfect. I read the book in one day, I just couldn’t put it down!
All in all, this was a quick, fun, lighthearted read, and I can’t wait to read more about the Wilder brothers!
