There's a lot of grist here for the lapsed Catholic to grind. Just about every conceit of the Church is taken to bits. As a nonreligious person, this story doesn't affect me much. I don't find it particularly shocking but I understand there is a lot of potential for such things here. This is getting my two-star "it's OK" in the truest sense.
