A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

this book was waaaaay due. and i don't even know why i took so long to read it, because it's absolutely wonderful, and i was so giddy throughout reading it omg wkbdhjbejbejk
alright, alright.

first of all - the premise of the story was pretty cool; love the idea of faeries, and ive always been a bit smitten with magical creatures, and faeries and elves, so that was immediately a bonus for me. as i progressed further into the story, i was confused why a murderer would get sanctuary would could live out their life in peace. that made zero sense to me, especially because of how much it would have hurt to have to look your friend's killer in the eye everyday. so i knew there was some ulterior move behind it. when we got to the part where it was revealed, i did think it was a bit cliche, but by that point i was too invested in what was happening and all the characters to even care about that. beside -- we're talking about a world where faeries and magic exists, im sure that curses like these were not all too rare. beside, it's kinda romantic, soooo im not minding too much.

i really liked the progression of the story as well, though i did fine the three tasks at the end a tad cheesy, but i liked that fayre prevailed at them. otherwise my poor reader's heart wouldve been too sad to continue.
though i must say, i like that she died at the end as well; it would've been TOO unrealistic if she didnt.

i really like her character; she's smart but driven by her feelings, she is quick to connect dots, but she's illiterate. she's full of love and compassion, on the other hand, she is robust and has an iron will. she feels like an actual person. i like how in the beginning it seemed as if she would fight any faerie purely because she disliked them, but at the end she learned to know them as people. there's definitely more to say about her, but i'm in a hurry and only wanted to quickly leave an opinion.

i obviously very much like tamlin, he's wonderful and i wish to bring him joy forever and ever. i loooved their scenes together and then at the end, their love pushing through everything that stands in the way? MARVELOUS.

i love this book. it was a very good read and it warmed my heart uwu. the writing style is very enjoyable to read and i'm sad there are not more pages to explore the world tbh

edit:
i dont dislike rhysand. he is an interesting character, and i understand his actions. i shouldve felt mad that she did that bargain with him, but i really cared little about it. it had to come like that, and i liked the little glimpse we got into his personality at the end. i wish to know more of him, but i dont wish there to be a love triangle, because that i seriously seriously hate.
PLEASE DONT MAKE IT SOME KIND OF LOVE TRIANGLE
