I would do anything for Nelson and Nox, and I don’t think that’s an exaggeration at this point. They’re one of my favorite literary pairings of all time, which is a huge testament to K. Sterling’s ability to write characters that are both so beautiful and so flawed at the same time. They are incredibly three-dimensional and relatably human, and we can’t help but root for them, in all their grumpy/sunshine glory.
I devoured the first book in the series, so I knew I was going to go into book II with the same fervor. However, I’m always cautiously optimistic with a new installment in a series because I never know if my expectations are too high. This is one of the rare exceptions that actually meets the standard I set for it. I love that we dive deeper into Nelson and Nox’s relationship, and that we actually put it to the test here. It felt like the stakes were higher and it elevated everything, from the world-building to the banter. And, as so many other reviews have already pointed out, there’s some magical sexy time, too!
One thing K. Sterling really knows how to do is leave you eager for more, and I am now desperate to start the third installment in the series so I can find our poor Nox’s fate and try to unravel all the threads of secrets and lies.
Thank you so much to the author for the ARC for this book, and I can’t wait for book three
