“I wanted to fight all her battles. I wanted to give her all her smiles and make her laugh and snatch her away from the rest of the world and keep her all to myself. I just wanted her.”  ~ Johnny Kavanagh

This book created an experience that takes you into the world where it feels like it’s part of your soul. The book had a slow  pace that added to the characters' day-to-day interactions, and inner struggles. Chloe Walsh’s attention to detail creates a deeply rooted connection between the reader and the story.

The emotional depth of this book stole my heart, one of the most touching stories I have ever read. The characters, particularly Shannon and Johnny, became more than fictional characters; they embed themselves in me. A standout feature was the portrayal of relationships, notably the teenage romance between Shannon and Johnny. The gradual evolution from a simple crush to a deep, authentic connection is beautifully depicted. The awkwardness and charm, inherent in teenage relationships, are captured with precision, creating a relatable and endearing dynamic.

The writing style is powerful, creating an authenticity that makes it impossible not to feel an overwhelming urge to shield the characters from their struggles. The book is well-crafted, with a compelling plot, and with characters navigating different challenges. The clear depiction of friendships was remarkably written.
