Why did I wait so long to read this book??? If you're a lover of historical fiction with a smidge of romance, this book is for you. It invoked so many emotions for me. It breaks my heart to read about what went on and still goes on in child abduction today. The grandmothers in the story really pulled at my heartstrings especially since losing my mother-in-love in the recent past. Living in one of the towns mentioned plus having been to Aiken, really brought this book alive to me.
Synopsis: The story is told in dual timelines with Rill telling the story from her POV as a child (with other sibmings) having been taken to the Tennessee Children's Home Society while Avery (adult grandchild) tells of her family history while trying to figure out how her family's past is connected to Rill's.
