Reflections: On the Magic of Writing by Diana Wynne Jones

5.0

Amazing collection of essays by Diana Wynne Jones (plus a few words from her sons at the end that put her views in new perspective). This is a wonderful way to approach her books and stories as well as her life and how her life affected the way she wrote. There are a few wonderful gems like when she talks about the responsibility of being a writer and making the wonders count or her need for a happy ending or at least, justice to be done to villains and heroes alike.
Diana's way of talking about her life as a child during the IIWW made the social educator in me cringe but at the same time it opened a new layer to her stories that helped me understand lots of her stories, especially after reading her son's at the end.
