I liked learning about the Highland Scots and their role in colonial America. However, I got tired of all the clues/symbols that were used throughout the book to help the main character (Duncan) solve the mystery. I also thought if fairly obvious as to who Sarah was and what had happened to her. There was a lot of violence and gore in the book, so if you don't like that, don't choose this book.
