Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid
4.0
This is one of the few books that I close after the last sentence, sit back, exhale and try to figure out what I just read and what I think of it. The way racism is portrayed in this story is unlike anything I ever read or watched or listened to. I love that the characters all have their own complex thoughts and perspectives and how you experience their tilted realities next to each other - especially the character of Mrs. Chamberlain was done very well in this regard.
That being said, I there was something missing that I can't put my finger on (yet). I feel both blown away and unsatisfied by the ending, but it might take some time for me to figure out why.
Anyway, this book deserves the praise, please read it. It makes you feel uncomfortable sometimes, but for me personally, I took a lot from it.
