Alex & Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz

1.0

About 40 pages from the end of this young adult novel which imagines the courtship and eventual marriage of Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler, I finally had an idea which helped me stomach the remainder of this romance which was clearly more on the fiction than historical side of the genre. Instead of being touted as historical fiction, it should be advertised as Fan Fiction. I worry that young fans of Hamilton, the musical which inspired the author to write this book and which was also fictionalized, will think that this book related as much history as the musical does. Which it does not and which I found really frustrating. There’s such a willing audience if you do adults hungry for more facts about the love of those in Hamilton’s world. Why feed them something called historical fiction which is actually romance/adventure?
