Being There by Jerzy Kosiński

5.0

This book will roll and whirl around you, approximating the feeling of floating just ever so slightly off the ground. It's story of a man who is believed to be more and less than he is, one Chauncey Gardner, who is in fact never anything but himself. I can think of no more exquisitely expressed use of dramatic irony, and the ending of the book, one of literature's best, is perfectly reflected within an equally brilliant film. One of the only instances where you can legitimately say the movie was as good as the book.
