Dr. STONE, Vol. 4 by Riichiro Inagaki, Boichi

5.0

I am truly amazed that I didn't up and die from the incredible character moments in this volume and the creepy as FUCK imagery regarding the sulfuric acid spring. Holy shit, Chrome is such a fucking amazing character and I'm so fucking glad he's Senku's new friend. Unlike Taiju and Yuzuriha, who I feel like was only friends with him because they got along, Chrome has a similar passion for science and hunger for knowledge that Senku has. Not only that, he's capable of seeing through Senku's bullshit and is willing to call him out on it, rather than blithely going along with everything he says and does. It's a subtle difference, but it makes for a more believable friendship.

Going off of strong characters, Kohaku really showed her willpower and determination to not only save her sister, but do things her way without shame. I haven't been too attached to her since she was introduced, but I think this volume clearly showed what a strong person she is.

That's all I want to say for now, looking forward to our obligatory Shounen Jump tournament arc!

P.S. The artwork was fucking awesome, as usual. LOVE IT.
