The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
5.0
What an amazing ending to a new all-time favorite series.
I don't quite know how to talk about or review this final book. This picks up directly after The Girl in the Tower and follows Vasya as she battles men, chyerti, and herself. This story is all about acceptance and I loved Vasya's journey to accept herself, even the dark parts.
This book took me on emotional rollercoaster. It broke me apart and built me back together. This had it all - heartbreak, joy, triumph, and tragedy. This is honestly one the greatest conclusions I have ever read and it is one that I will be thinking about long after.
Katherine Arden's ability to weave a magical, lush fantasy with a historically accurate backdrop blew me away. The writing was exquisite and this world completely immersive. I'm finding it extremely difficult to write anything resembling a coherent review because this world and series (and Morozko) have my whole heart.
Pick up this series. You won't regret it.
“I have plucked snowdrops at Midwinter, died at my own choosing, and wept for a nightingale. Now I am beyond prophecy.”

“As I could, I loved you.”

“There are no monsters in the world, and no saints. Only infinite shades woven into the same tapestry, light and dark. One man’s monster is another man’s beloved. The wise know that.”
