Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
Please tell me why I took so long to read Throne of Glass? I have heard great things, read amazing reviews and yet did not read the book. Finally I wised up and I am so glad I did. I am fangirling over this series. I am already half way through the second and cannot wait until I get my grubby paws on the third.
Likes:
I love Celaena, she is badass, but realistic, kind-hearted, loving and strong all at the same time. I feel like I say this a lot because that is definitely my favorite type of character.
The boys are SO swoony. I love both Dorian and Chaol for different reasons. Although there is kinda a love triangle situation, it did not bother me at all. I was happy with where the book went and the relationship status at the end of the book.
The clothes in the book were awesome. The big, fluffy Renaissance dresses felt right at home with the Championship fight. It was an odd mix that totally worked and showed both sides of Celaena.
I loved all the Champions and the descriptions. Another blogger suggested that it would make a great TV show and I totally agree. I would love to see more time spent on each champion and their stories. Maybe there will be more in the way of novellas.
The mix of magic, mystery and historical kingdom lore works so well. It would almost seem out of place, but Maas does a great job of weaving the stories together.
Gripes:
Not a single one, this series is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I only hope the 5th and possibly 6th books come out quickly! Maas definitely has a way with words and storytelling!
